after i lost $150 last week due to my emotional state and entrusting nature, i told myself i would not make any unnecessary purchases in may. i have a bad habit of setting a goal for myself and then falling through. i also went back to smoking weed because i ran out of edibles and did not feel like going to the dispensary to get more. 

so in addition to breaking my five-day no-smoking streak, i also bought something with questionable worth: elementor pro, for $60. it’s an investment in my future! besides, i know plenty of men who bet way more on their favorite sports team, and they rarely see a return on their “investment.” 

yesterday was spent playing around with my new toy and trying out the widgets on falloutvia.com (if you are wondering about the name, it has been my username and gamertag since i was 13. i will write a post sometime in the near future explaining that lore). i started the week with the free version, and then quickly decided i absolutely needed the paid version for the ability to customize my website header. 

as i was dropping elements into boxes, i came across a glitch: the “select” button in the media library would not appear. i could not upload the picture of the dog with purple glasses that i randomly found in my camera roll while looking for a suitable site logo into my “about” page. i was devastated. 

i consulted elementor how-to articles, reddit, and other third-party sources. of course, everyone had a slightly different issue than me, and all the solutions either did not work or were too complicated to figure out. i found myself in a sea of acronyms like “sftp,” “css,” “rss” (i wish one was “ass” because that’s how i felt reading these articles). after a long day of work where i was staring at random corporate acronyms in salesforce until my eyes bled, i did not have the bandwidth to figure out how to edit the wordpress .htaccess file to fix the issue. 

although i did start brain dump with the intention of learning something new and developing my skills, this ultimately has to be enjoyable for me, or else i will inevitably not keep up with it long enough to see the fruits of my labor. i used to be able to code my tumblr blog (called punkthot at the time) with html and manipulate minecraft java for texture packs and mods. surely, i could figure out something as intuitive as wordpress and elementor. but alas, i gave up, and contacted elementor support. my knight in shining armor, jerome, has emailed me about an hour ago to save me from the dragon called elementor.
